GamedayRecruits.com was in Centre Alabama for the 4A quarterfinal match up between Cherokee County(AL) and Oneonta(AL). It was so cold at this game that the Gameday Recruits tee-shirt cannon froze up and would not work. This was the second meeting of these two teams this year and like the first meeting Cherokee was able to pull away and win with ease.
Coty Blanchard threw three touchdown passes, all to D.J. Fife, and ran for two more. Jacob Morgan led the rushing efforts with 86 yards on the night. Blanchard was 12-of-21 passing for 143 yards in the 35 -14 victory which moves Cherokee County to 13-0 on the season and advances to the 4A semifinals where they will play Deshler(AL).
Oneonta's Nolen Smith tied Orlando Waters 1989 state record of 102 receptions in a season, Smith had nine grabs for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Oneonta quarterback Casey O'Toole finished the night 19-of-29 passing for 186 yards. O'Toole and Smith hooked up twice for touchdowns of, 26 and 44 yards. Oneonta ends the season at a record of 10-3.
